We are a member of NIFA (Network of Independent Forensic Accountants), whose membership consists of independent accountancy practices throughout the UK who specialise in forensic accountancy, and are able to provide a cost effective alternative to the national firms of accountants. Membership of NIFA provides safeguards to instructing parties because it sets quality standards and monitors them by an annual review of each firm's working files. |
Matrimonial Disputes & Settlements
The role of the forensic accountant in relation to matrimonial settlements / disputes frequently falls into three distinct categories:
-
Valuation of shareholdings/companies, partnership interests or businesses
-
Advice regarding the extraction of funds or ability of the business to take on borrowings in order to make funds available to assist in the settlement process
-
Advice regarding the taxation consequences of the transfer of assets between spouses
Forensic accountants can be appointed to advise one party only, but are regularly appointed as single joint expert where business interests are involved.
Chris Hatcher has considerable experience of preparing reports covering the above matters, acting for one party only and regularly as single joint expert. He has given evidence in Court on a number of occasions.
